My "No Makeup" Makeup

31 August 2014

Recently I haven't been using much makeup, and these are the only products that I have used to apply on my face to minimalise everything - I didn't want to make myself look like I'm ready to go all-out like winged eyeliner or super bronzed, well, not this time (I usually like to draw myself some winged eyeliner). I guess that's because I didn't really go out to meet my girlfriends or shopping, so yeah. I just want to look natural, you know? Get the impression of "no makeup" makeup, at least that's what my mum says.

I will first prime my skin by using the NARS Multiprotect Primer to put a layer of primer and sunblock to create a gap between my skin and foundation, and also to smooth out my pores and imperfections. Girls, primer is important for your skin - I'm serious.

Before applying foundation, I moisturise my lips by using the Christian Dior Lip Glow - Color Reviver Balm in the shade 001 which is a sheer pink colour and is also the only shade available. It does not only moisturises your lips but also gives it a hint of colour so it works both as a moisturiser and a teeny tiny bit part as a lipstick - I have never used lipsticks before because I didn't really like the texture and feeling of it on my lips.

The NARS Sheer Glow Foundation has been a favourite recently as I only have purchased it a few weeks ago after contemplating for a very, very long time. I'm using the shade Medium - Punjab and I apply it with my fingers and also a stippling brush (I use MAC's). It's not really sheer and it's buildable, and I usually apply two layers on my skin (thanks to my imperfections).

I'm skipping concealer here as I didn't want to suffocate my blemishes by adding more layers. I then proceed to groom and shape my eyebrows. I use Benefit's Gimme Brow and I am using the shade Medium/Deep. I used to dislike it when I first use it because it was like a very liquidy and it felt too dark of a colour for my brows and it was also quite a trouble for me to shape my eyebrows using this product, but recently I have gotten to like it since I am also quite lazy to draw my brows with a brow pencil... so yeah.

After that, I line my waterline using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in the colour Perversion and also to draw a bit of eyeliner on my eyelids. It glides on smoothly and is waterproof (yay to waterproof eyeliners!). Then I apply some mascara and the LancĂ´me Hypnose Star Waterproof Mascara (another waterproof product!) has been the only mascara I go to for a long time now.

The last step for me is to set my makeup, and I use the Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray to spray across my face. I have the one in travel size and it sets my makeup for the longest time. It also has the oil-control function so that my face doesn't get too oily. I also skip the bronzer and blush part, why? Because.. I'm lazy. Yeah... heh.

This is the look (bad lighting, seriously):
