SKINCARE EDIT: SPRING STAPLES

16 March 2015

After so many years of purging to get good skin, my skin has finally gotten better (not completely but at least I'm halfway there) after trying out on so many skincare products; which I have found staple products that I will always reach out for.

I have very sensitive skin and usually oily, but during this winter-to-spring-transition season, my skin went dry. As I went in the Kiehl's to get a good moisturiser, I was then told my skin is from normal to dry, which then give me a shock - I never expected my skin to be normal, let alone be dry!

As I write this post, I'm glad that I've been on the same routine everyday. Switching from too many products down to a few has had a change in my skin, so here are my skincare staples.

Cleanser: I love cleansers that smells calming, and since my skin is super sensitive I wouldn't let any harsh products onto my skin. After removing my makeup using the Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil, I will cleanse my skin once again with a cleanser that calms, in which this case I would recommend the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I bought the Liz Earle Daily Essentials Box Set for Dry/Sensitive Skin where it includes the cleanser, a hydrating boost toner, eye lotion and also a light moisturiser; I have decided that the rest of the box set would come of use when the weather gets warmer, because they were a bit too harsh for the cold weather at the moment. And if you are a starter where you're not sure if you want to get the whole box set, you can get the Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit where it comes with 2 muslin cloths.

Toner: Ever since the launching, I've been purchasing it and now I'm almost finished with my second bottle of it and I have one back up! Can you guess it's already the La Roche Posay Serozinc Spray already?! For someone who has acne-prone skin like me, I'm glad that I found the Serozinc, though I've heard that the La Roche Posay Thermal Spray works fine as well!

Moisturiser: I'd skip the facial oils because I didn't want any more heavy stuff on my skin these days, and when I found the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, I never looked back. This stuff works wonderfully and my skin drinks up very quickly! It doesn't leave my face looking shiny and I'm happy!

Treatment: Sometimes when I'm facing an angry blemish I'd pop a bit of treatment to let it shut up being angry. Just kidding, I usually use the Clinique Anti Blemish Clinical Clearing Gel to deal with blemishes. I know many love the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+, but sadly it didn't work as better as this for me.

Mask: I have love for so many face masks but at the end of the day I'd always come back to the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment Mask. I'd say if you have acne-prone skin, this is the one. It works for me and it just minimises the blemish so much! But this mask can be drying so I'd recommend a good moisturiser if you use it.
