24 May 2015

Honestly this month has concluded so many stressful events for me - essay and report submissions, final examinations (we're talking about three exams here), packing up everything as I'm moving to a new place and also flying back to my hometown; it's just so hectic! And all of a sudden, May has come to an end and it's time to say goodbye to many friends and my room here in student halls, but before I go I have a May Favourites treat for y'all.

As much as I didn't want to go yet, I have to, and before I go I would like to dedicate this month's favourites to everyone reading - thank you for reading and thank you for sticking up with me for the past 9 months and the same backgrounds for pictures etc..

In terms of skincare, I've been adoring a new cleanser and I came across it when I stumbled upon Grace's [That Grace Girl] post and it's the Radical Hydrating Cleanser.

The protecting, repairing and soothing triple potency of the proprietary Trylacel technology in an indulgent multitasking one step cleansing cream to thoroughly remove makeup and cleanse, perfectly tone, increase skin hydration and prepare skin to receive maximum potency anti-aging treatment.

A cleanser that does all the tricks: cleanses, tones and hydrates, and it suits all skin types - so what's not to love? This cleanser does not form foams and that's what I prefer over foamy cleansers, and I prefer using a makeup remover beforehand and then I reach out to this cleanser for a gentler cleanse.

Since the months have gotten warmer, my skin was begging for a a thicker moisturiser and because my favourite Kiehl's Oil-Free Ultra Facial Cream was running out, I took the opportunity to grab new moisturisers. I've heard so many raves about the brand that I have decided to purchase both the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Daily Moisturiser for Face with SPF15++ and also the Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Nighttime Miracle Moisturiser. Along with the new cleanser one would have thought that the skin would start breaking out, but with this combo my skin has no complaints.

On days when I only wear makeup for just a few hours and didn't want to leave it until nighttime to remove, I reach out for one of my all-time favourites - Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, which I would also like to point out that is the perfect dupe for Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution. It is quite gentle and it does not leave any stickiness on the skin.

We all know that summer is almost here so I also like wearing sunscreen on my face, the Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Defense SPF45 was recommended by one of my good friends many months back. This is the perfect sunscreen to use under foundation, or you can wear it on its own. The texture is liquidy and you have to shake the bottle before opening it, it's skin-toned colour but it suits all skin shades and types. It doesn't get greasy after you apply it on, which is a good thing for me as I have found that many sunscreens tend to leave a greasy feeling on your skin.

On my face wise, I like foundations that are not too thick and heavy but still provides medium to full coverage, so I have reached out to the Rimmel Lasting Finish Skin Perfection 25 Hr Full Coverage Foundation with Comfort Serum and SPF25. Boy that is a long name! I use the lightest shade in 100 Ivory, and like I mentioned, it's not very thick and it goes on the skin smoothly and provided full coverage with about two layers while it's under £10.

With Asian eyes my eyelashes are not very long or super thick - I tried on the permanent eyelashes (those false lashes who promised to stay on your eyelashes for 3 months looking all natural without having to put on eye makeup or mascara), and it ripped some of my eyelashes off along with the roots, so yes, they're still full but not very. Anyhow that was an experience I would never go back to, but I like to curl my eyelashes to make them look better as I'm sure many can't live without eyelash curlers, and my all-time favourite is the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler.

On my brows I think everyone knows that I like to make my eyebrows bushy, and I've mentioned this one countless times and yet I still reach for it is the Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep. It has the longest staying power compared to so many other eyebrow gels, even eyebrow pencils and crayons! It makes my eyebrows stay in place while it's still waterproof. Hands down to the best eyebrow product ever.

I think in most of my posts you will see that I would at least include one lipstick and of course, I wouldn't disappoint in this post so I would like to show off the new red, the L'Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive by Blake Lively. Oh boy, damn. Blake Lively and red?! Best lipstick ever. It's so creamy but not super thick and it glides on my lips so smoothly and I just adore the colour. It's the perfect red for all.
